As This week came to an end I realized how much I actually learned and how many great connections I made. The Forest Service offers so much for everything we do and my interests. I could see a future in some of the places they work especially if I continue to pursue an environmental degree of some type. There were some dull days but they got pushed aside by even a half of a day out in the field. I love so much about my internship and how it went there is only one thing I can complain about. That one thing is not being in the month of may when more action was happening outside. The connections I made will help me in the future even though I didn't plan on creating so many future opportunities. Thank you so much everyone that made this possible!!! |

In less then a month I will be going to do my LINK internship. The place that I am going is called the Forest Service. They are a national government run facility that have locations everywhere in the united states. The single place I will be working at is in Durango Colorado and it is for the San Juan national forest.Their mission is to help and protect the forest the best possible. If we didn't have a forest service we wouldn't have most of the places to camp, hike, and keep forest instead of condos.
While I work there I will have many different overseers/ Mentors, but my main mentor's name is Pauline Ellis. She is an engineer of many types as well as runs a small portion of that facility. I also get the chance to work with many other engineers. Pauline can help me see what the forest service actually does and how there engineering skills come to use in there work. I have always loved the outdoors and interacting with nature. It just happens to be that I also have a passion for engineering. The Forest Service has a career path of environmental engineering and if it is the same thing as it sounds and is in practice I would love to follow that. While I am there I want to find out if that future would be a good one for my passions. |
