This photo is by Vallecito reservoir with Forest Service workers and many of the forest partners. | The first week of my internship with the San Juan Forest Service is already gone! So far I have been able to work out in the field collecting air quality data, look at recreational sites yet to be opened but will be soon, held great conversations with people all the way from Denver to Durango, learned tons of forestry information and much more. My internship so far has actually shown me more then I expected. Yes they're dull points in a day that may want to make you sleep, but in the next day or even hour another assignment or field day comes making the day worth it. The real world so far in this career path is very diverse. It can be behind a desk all day or never even get to see a desk. I have also learned that the forest service does not just have one main job description. You can be anything from a engineer to an accountant to a fire fighter! Even if you don't get the specific job you are looking at they have so much to offer. There ladder system will let you build yourself up into the next position. I have learned so much and yet there is so much more to come. I am glad I get a taste of the real world to see the ups and downs and prepare myself a little more. |
